Andreas Birk

I help large industrial software organizations to align their software engineering competences with their specific business requirements. My particular areas of expertise are software requirements, product lines, testing, and process improvement.

Since March 2007, I am founder and principal consultant of Software.Process.Management. From 2001 to 2007, I was a managing consultant and project lead at sd&m AG. Until 2001, I contributed to international consortium projects that developed and introduced advanced software engineering technology into large enterprises. I have often been able to compare software organizations from different companies, countries, and business domains. That gave me a broad and deep understanding of industrial software engineering practice. My consulting engagements from the past 12 years include companies such as DaimlerChrysler, Siemens, Robert Bosch, Ericsson, Dräger Medical Electronics, Schlumberger, and AXA.

I hold a diploma (Dipl.-Inform.) in software engineering and economics, and a PhD in software engineering (Dr.-Ing.) from University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. I am a member of ACM, IEEE CS, and GI.
